The Learning Support Faculty
The Learning Support faculty is made up of a highly experienced team who aim to meet the differing needs of students at Sanders Draper.
The school has an inclusive ethos so we work hard with the students to make sure they can fully access the curriculum.
Additionally information and training is given to all staff to increase their knowledge of specific learning issues such as Aspergers, ADHD etc
The school is also unique in having a nurture group for students coming in in year 7 who need extra support in the transition. These students spend the morning in the Bridges room, a specially equipped area and are included in the afternoon for lessons such as PE, Art etc
SEN students take a full part in school life and have been involved in all sorts of school, borough and national events. For example students recently took part in the London SEN games where they were very successful.
Additionally we are able to test students reading and spelling abilities and give them strategies to improve. The department has an active web site
www.supportdepartment.co.uk that gives advice to students, parents and teachers in dealing with literacy issues and giving them support
The whole SEN team is committed to delivering high quality support for students and helping them achieve the best they can so they can succeed in life.
