In the week beginning 4th May 2009 the Hearing Impaired Unit based at Sanders Draper School, Suttons Lane, Hornchurch is having a display in the foyer of the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch to celebrate its achievements in conjunction with Deaf Awareness Week. On Tuesday 5th May we are having our "Opening Ceremony" at 11am. Students from the "Signing Club Choir" will be signing "Proud" as well as signing and reading a poem written by a parent of a deaf child. Councillor Georgina Galpin will be opening the display. The display consists of equipment helpful to deaf and hard of hearing people, events in which the students have participated (including the Lord Mayor's Show), Deaf Organisations, methods of communication, poems by and for deaf people and details about our competition to design a logo for the HIU. Refreshments will be available and all are welcome.
