The Vision Statement

The Sanders Draper School and Specialist Science College strives for academic and personal excellence and seeks to maximise the potential of students by providing inspiration, challenge and opportunity for all, where learning is personalised according to need and diversity is valued, in a caring, learning, inclusive and safe environment. We aim to be at the heart of the local community and build local, national and international partnerships.

We will also continue to promote our core values among our students, staff, parents and partners, and ensure that our young people are prepared to meet the challenge of the future.

From the moment students enter the school they are expected to apply themselves successfully in the classroom, examinations, sports and a range of voluntary activities.

At Sanders Draper every student is important, with talents and skills to be developed to the full. We take pride in our reputation as a caring school and work hard at creating good relations between students, parents and all adults in the school. Discipline is firm and fair, with emphasis on politeness, commonsense and regard for others.

We Are Committed To

  • Creating a calm, quiet, orderly atmosphere conductive the learning;
  • Recognising and rewarding effort and acheivement through the commendations system and annual Awards Evening at the Queens Theatre;
  • Setting high standards and giving students the means to achieve them;
  • Involving students in the organisation and operation of the school through the work of the Year Councils and the School Council;
  • Employing well qualified and suitably experienced staff, clearly interested in young people and committed to the aims of the school;
  • Establishing and maintaining a programme of primary-secondary and post-16 liaison that fosters good relations with our feeder schools, local colleges and universities and employers, and ensures smooth and successful transitions for our students at all levels.
