Recycling
The Key Skills group in year 11 have been involved in improving the recycling that takes place in school. As well as supplying each room with a blue recycling box for paper they also co-ordinated a programme for recycling unwanted clothes from staff and students working with the Phil the Bag organisation. Staff and students were all given bags and asked if they could contribute any unwanted items. The bags were then collected and weighed and the school were given a cheque for £184 which went to charity. Their efforts were recognised by the Waste Watch organisation that have been helping the school develop the recycling initiative in school and their work was featured in the latest e zine copy that goes to all schools in Havering, Barking and Dagenham and Newham

OPEN EVENING - 25 September 2012
The Sanders Draper School were delighted to welcome students in year 6 and their families to the school's Open evening on 25th September.
The evening was a great success with everyone having the opportunity to experience the different subjects that are taught at the school.
Some students were transported back in time with the History department recreating a World War 2 bunker with an air siren going on and staff and students dressed in appropriate costumes. In English there were witches and potions as well as Frankenstein as students got to 'feel inside the cauldron' and write about their experiences.
Hands were (safely!) set on fire down in science as well as the opportunity to see things freeze in liquid nitrogen and the chance to have a go at stage fighting took place in drama.
Food was available in all different areas with a chance to make biscuits in Food Technology, French food and treats in the Modern Foreign Languages department, flap jack as 'brain food' in learning support and spam fritters as part of the food you would experience in World war 2
It was a really enjoyable evening and gave students a taste of what The Sanders Draper School has to offer. Students helping out were fantastic with the support they gave the departments and the school.
This year Sanders Draper celebrated its best ever results and it will continue to give students an excellent educational experience in the years to come.
